4th Annual Honey Contest

CEBA is taking another step forward in providing both members and guest, an opportunity to learn all about Honey Contest & Shows!

This June 13th, CEBA has invited Marcy Cornell, a certified Welsh Honey Judge to Oatland Island Wildlife Center.

Many of you may remember Marcy from our 2015 February FUNdamentals where where she taught a variety of honey and wax competition courses.  CEBA has previously held their “black jar” honey contest for the last three years and now members are ready to move this to the next level.

We have posted to our Newsletter page both the June Newsletter Special Edition, along with the CEBA rules we will use for June 13th.  Here is a short summary below to get you started:

  1. Bring your extracted honey, black jar honey, or any artwork & MISC bee items to Oatland Island on June 13th, before 12 noon.
  2. All submissions will be cataloged and you will have a receipt number for each item.
  3. Don’t worry if you don’t know what category or class to submit your items, as Marcy Cornell will be there to advise you on each item.  This is the educational part right from the start!
  4. If you have time, come out early and take some training on building frames; working in the bee yard, or even painting.  Marcy and her team will be processing & judging items from 12 to 1 PM.
  5. CEBA will be providing prizes and placements, but Marcy will also be providing education and Welsh Competition judging for our benefit.  She will use your submitted items to help teach YOU to improve if you decide to go to a competitive level of Honey Shows.
  6. The Honey Contest is open to all clubs and we welcome guest!.

The idea is to provide both education, training, and have some fun.  So CEBA hopes both members and other clubs will come out and learn more about the world of Welsh Honey Judging.
